Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

CogniZenKids ("we," "our," "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you and your child have. Our Service is directed to children ages 6–12 and is built to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").

1. Information We Collect

From Parents (account holders, 18+)

  • Name and email address provided at registration
  • Payment information (processed and stored by Stripe; we receive only the last four digits and card brand)
  • Billing address as required for tax and payment processing
  • Communication preferences and support correspondence
  • Usage analytics: pages visited, features used, subscription events

From Children (under 13, only via parent-created profiles)

  • First name or display name the parent provides for the child profile
  • Age or age tier (Explorer 6–8, Builder 9–10, Innovator 10+)
  • Lesson progress, certificates earned, Gem Guardians collected
  • Structured emotion check-in responses (multiple-choice only — no free-form text input is collected from children)
  • Anonymous interaction events used solely to improve the Service

We do not collect from children: real names beyond what the parent provides, geolocation, contact information, photos or biometric data, free-form text input, or any other information not strictly necessary for providing the Service.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to provide, maintain, and improve the Service; process payments and manage subscriptions; send transactional emails (receipts, trial reminders, certificate notifications); communicate updates and support responses; detect and prevent fraud or misuse; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not sell children's personal information. We do not use children's data for behavioral advertising or share it with third-party advertisers.

3. Service Directed to Children — COPPA & Parental Consent

CogniZenKids is directed to children and complies with COPPA. Parental consent is obtained before any child profile is created: only a verified adult account holder (18+) can register, and that account holder must create and manage every child profile. By creating a child profile, the parent or legal guardian provides verifiable consent to the collection of the limited child information listed in Section 1.

  • No behavioral advertising is shown to children. Marketing analytics (TikTok Pixel, Meta Pixel) run only on parent-facing marketing pages (homepage, parent quiz, pricing, blog) and are never active within the children's learning experience.
  • No free-form input from children — interactive features that collect responses from children use pre-written multiple-choice options only.
  • No AI chat with children — LLM-driven interactions are restricted to the Parent Corner.
  • Limited data collection — we collect only what is necessary to deliver lessons and track progress.

4. Parental Rights

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

  • Review the personal information we have collected from your child
  • Request deletion of your child's information at any time
  • Refuse further collection of information from your child (which may require closing the child profile or account)
  • Update information in your child's profile
  • Export account data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cognizenkids.com with "Parental Rights Request" in the subject line. We will respond within 14 days.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service, and only as needed for their specific function:

  • Supabase (United States) — database storage and authentication
  • Stripe (United States / Ireland) — payment processing
  • ElevenLabs (United States) — voice synthesis for lesson audio
  • HeyGen (United States) — video generation for character intros
  • Google Analytics (United States) — anonymized usage measurement on parent-facing pages only

These providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we authorize. We do not sell personal information about parents or children to any third party.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions (authentication, session management) and for limited analytics on parent-facing pages. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings; disabling required cookies may affect your ability to use the Service. Tracking pixels are never active within the children's learning experience.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

8. Data Retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Upon an account deletion request, we delete personal information within 30 days, except as required for tax records (financial transactions retained for 7 years per IRS requirements), fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

9. International Users

CogniZenKids is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify account holders by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top. We will obtain renewed parental consent if changes materially expand the information collected from children.
